(ANSA) - Rome, September 28 - Italian golfer Matteo Delpodio
had an excellent start at the Challenge de España (Challenge
Tour), taking place at the Izki Golf course (par 72), in Urturi,
Spain, finishing the first day fourth with 67 (-5).
Delpodio, from Turin, along with six other competitors
including Garrick Porteous of England and Michael Hoey of
Northern Ireland, is three strokes from the leader, Finland's
Kalle Samooja, who turned in 64 (-8). In second place with 66
(-6) are Erik Van Rooyen of South Africa and Kristian Krogh
Johannessen of Norway.
In 43rd place with 70 (-2) are Alessandro Tadini and Edoardo
Raffaele Lipparelli, who just made it past European Tour
Qualifying School First Stage, and in 61st with 71 (-1),
Francesco Laporta.
Past the cut line but with a chance to recover are Nicolò
Ravano, 104th with 74 (+2), and Federico Maccario, 122nd with 76
(+4).
