Justice Minister Carlo Nordio said
Wednesday he was "satisfied" that Italian anti-fascist Ilaria
Salis had been released to house arrest in Budapest where she is
on trial for attacking NeoNazis last year and where her
detention conditions over the last 15 months have spurred
protests from Italy.
"I should like to express my satisfaction for the news that we
have receive don the granting of house arrest to Ilaria Salis,"
Nordio said at question time in the House.
Italy has been working to secure Salis's move to house arrest
after she was repeatedly led into court on a chain with her
hands and ankles cuffed, which Hungary says is standard
procedure there but which provoked strong reactions in Italy.
