The European Commission's draft
action plan for migrants and the calling of an extraordinary
interior ministers' council on Friday are a great sign for Italy
that something will be done to resolve the migrant crisis and
"the situation now requires prompt action," well-informed
sources said on the sidelines of the council.
During the meeting, the source said, Italy will set out its
position with respect to to the programmatic lines contained in
the 20-point Action Plan presented by the European Commission on
21 November.
Italy, they stressed, is not presenting a point-by-point plan.
The same sources point out that the convening of an the
extraordinary council and the draft Action Plan proposed by the
European Commission represent "a signal of great attention to
Italy's needs.
"The situation imposes, however, to act promptly".
