Italian Olympic
Committee (CONI) President Giovanni Malagò lauded Italy's
Olympians after they equalled London 2012's haul of 28 medals -
but with more silvers - including eight golds, and came ninth in
the medal table.
"We did well, I'm happy," he said.
"We could have got a few other medals," he said, referring
to 12 fourth places.
"But I'm proud of being the president of CONI and of being
Italian".
