Marcello Lippi would have been
incompatible for the post of technical director of the Italian
national team because his son Davide is a players' agent, an
Italian Soccer Federation (FIGC) court ruled Tuesday.
Former Juventus coach and 2006 World Cup winner Lippi
declined the post on June 24 after media reports about the
suspected incompatibility due to his son's job.
The post, which was supposed to have helped new Italy coach
Giampiero Ventura, has been left vacant for the time being.
Ventura is taking over from Antonio Conte who is moving to
Chelsea having steered Italy to the quarter-finals of Euro 2016,
where they lost to world champions Germany on penalties.
