Italy boss Antonio Conte said he
was not depressed after his side's 4-1 drubbing by world
champions Germany in Munich on Tuesday in their last friendly
before he compiles his squad for Euro 2016.
The Azzurri started brightly but ended the first half 2-0
down after goals by Toni Kroos and Mario Götze.
Jonas Hector scored and Mesut Özil converted a penalty
after the break to ensure the Germans their first win over Italy
in 21 years before Stephan El Shaarawy fired home a consolation
goal for the visitors.
"I did not get carried away after the fine draw with
Spain," he said referring to Thursday's 1-1 tie with the
European champions in Udine.
"I can't get depressed now".
Italy have now not won in four games and Tuesday's was
their third defeat under Conte after losses to Portugal and
Belgium.
Before the Germany game Conte said he had decided on 16 of
the 23 men he will include in his Euro 2016 squad.
He said the Munich debacle had not radically changed
things.
"I can't give the thumbs down to anyone because you only
do that for lack of effort," Conte said.
"No one came up short in that sense. Naturally I got some
answers (from the defeat) and now I'll have to make decisions
for the selections.
"But these are the players I have. You cannot expect me to
pull anything special out of the hat.
"It's never nice to lose. But we said we wanted to take on
the best to see the distance between us and them.
"At the moment we have to have great organisation and go
full throttle.
"It's no coincidence that Germany are world champions".
