The South Stream gas pipeline
project "as such does not exist, it is closed", Kremlin
Spokesman Dmitri Peskov said Friday, commenting on a statement
by European Union Ambassador to Russia Vygaudas Ushackas who
said the EU was willing to study possible proposals to relaunch
the project. The project was cancelled by Russia in December
2014 following obstacles from Bulgaria and the EU, the 2014
Crimean crisis, and the imposition of European sanctions on
Russia. The project has been replaced by proposals of Turkish
Stream and Tesla Pipeline.
