Italy's demographic growth after
years of falling birth rates is an absolute priority for the
government, Premier Giorgia Meloni said at her year-end press
conference Thursday.
The government has appointed a family minister with a specific
brief to boost flagging birth rates by helping working mothers
through tax breaks, more and better nursery care, and other
moves.
The 'demographic issue is for us an absolute priority and is
therefore for us an economic issue too. We consider the issue of
supporting parenthood a priority and therefore taxation must
also take this into account," Meloni said.
