Flavio Tosi, leader of the Fare
movement, on Friday slammed a Verona court for acquitting two
Roma women arrested for attempted robbery. The women were set
free despite numerous previous crimes because one is heavily
pregnant and the other has a newborn child. "It's absurd that
two thieving gypsies should go scot free and their children not
be taken from them," said Tosi, formerly a high-up in the
rightwing populist Northern League. Tosi has frequently
campaigned on law-and-order issues.
