Italy's deficit-to-GDP ratio for 2016 was 2.4%, down 0.3 of a percentage point with respect to the previous year, ISTAT said on Tuesday. The national statistics agency said the deficit for the fourth quarter of 2016 was 2.3% of GDP, stable with respect to the same period in 2015.
Italian households' purchasing power increased 1.6% in 2016, the biggest rise since 2001, ISTAT said
on Tuesday.
The national statistics agency added, however, that spending power dropped by 0.9% in the last quarter of the year with respect to the previous three months.
