Rome prosecutors on Thursday
requested the indictment of 17 people - mainly council officials
and businessmen - in connection with alleged kickbacks on work
in Roma camps in Rome. The probe runs parallel withe the
sprawling Capital Mafia case in which a gang of criminals,
officials and businessmen muscled in on city contracts. Among
those risking trial is Emanuela Salvatori, a city council
employee already sentenced to four years in jail for corruption
offences linked to Capital Mafia kingpin Salvatore Buzzi.
