Rome Mayor Virginia Raggi's anti-establishment Five Star Movement (M5S) has presented a motion to ban slot machines and other gambling activities from the historic centre of the capital. "Enough of the Las Vegas effect," said Raggi in a post to the blog of M5S leader, ex comic Beppe Grillo. "Last week we deposited a resolution ... concerning the regulation of slot machines in Rome. (It is) an important initiative ... aiming to protect residents' health with knock-on effects for safety, road access, noise pollution, decorum and public peace in the city," the mayor continued.
