Premier Matteo Renzi said
Tuesday that internal divisions hampered Italy when it came to
influencing policy at the European Union level. "The world
outside here is a world in which others form a team when its
time to defend their country," Renzi said during a visit to Asti
to meet mayors from the northern province. "The reference to
Europe is deliberate. We are used to carrying our divisions with
us. This does not help us at the international level".
