Italian Foreign Minister Paolo
Gentiloni on Friday expressed concern about the arrest on
Thursday of the leader of Turkey's pro-Kurdish Peoples'
Democratic Party (HDP), Selahattin Demirtas, and other HDP
lawmakers as a crackdown following last July's failed coup
continues in the country.
Gentiloni on Friday tweeted "concern for the arrest last
night of Demirtas and other HDP lawmakers in Turkey".
"Italy asks for the respect of the rights of the
parliamentary opposition", the foreign minister also tweeted.
