Britain's exit from the EU
should take the "necessary" time but no longer, President Sergio
Mattarella said Tuesday after talks in Sofia with Bulgarian
counterpart Rosen Plevneliev. "Britain's exit from the Union was
a surprise for all. It is clear that Britain remains a friendly
country for all but Brexit means there should be a necessary
timeframe, but no longer, to bring clarity to relations with the
EU", he said. "This shock has opened a profound reflection on
the state of the Union," Mattarella went on, "both on existing
delays and on urgent initiatives to take".
