Security at sensitive Italian sites
has been beefed up after Thursday's terror attack that killed 84
in Nice, Interior Minister Angelino Alfano said Friday. "We have
set up a sort of permanent meeting of the anti-terrorism
strategic analysis committee, CASA," he said. Alfano added that
no backing for the Nice attack had been detected in Italian
prisons, "unlike other occasions" when Islamists had applauded
attacks. The Nice attacker, a 31-year-old Franco-Tunisian,
ploughed a truck through Bastille Night crowds along the Nice
seafront while firing into the crowd for about two km before
being shot by police.
