New Rome Mayor Virginia Raggi is set to bring together her new executive for the first time at an informal meeting on Wednesday before it is formally presented at a meeting of the city council on Thursday.
Raggi,37, only announced she had completed her cabinet on Tuesday over two weeks after being elected by a landslide.
The delay was linked to allegedly disagreements within the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement that she belongs to.
The M5S, meanwhile, will take up the benches on the left of the city assembly, 'evicting' Premier Matteo Renzi's centre-left Democratic Party (PD), which has traditionally occupied that side of the hall, M5S councillor Enrico Stefano said.
Raggi's line-up, which has yet to be made official, includes the following firm names: Paolo Berdini (urban planning); Paola Muraro (environment);Andrea Lo Cicero (sport); Luca Bergamo (culture); Flavia Marzano (simplification); Laura Baldassarre (social affairs). Other possible names are Marcello Minenna (budget); Enrico Stefàno (transport); and Adriano Meloni (trade). Daniele Frongia is expected to be deputy mayor with the brief for city-controlled companies; while Daniela Morgante, former budget councillor for former mayor Ignazio Marino, is expected to be cabinet chief.
