Premier Matteo Renzi told a press
conference at the premier's office Wednesday an October
referendum on his constitutional reform is "the mother of all
challenges".
The new law will "give Italy stability and governability in
the coming years," he said.
He also said government is at work in an "unprecedented"
way while the rest of the country talks about upcoming local
election runoffs.
Cabinet has passed some civil service measures "I judge to
be of the greatest significance and importance," Renzi said.
"While the national debate and traditional politics focus
on local election runoffs, parliament and government are in
constant action in a way I find to be truly unprecedented".
The premier spoke ahead of a two-day trip to attend the St.
Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in Russia.
