Stefano Fassina of the Italian Left (SI) party said Monday that he was confident of having the electoral list for his bid to become Rome's next mayor reinstated. His list for next month's local elections was excluded at the weekend over irregularities in the signatures needed to register. "We have presented all the necessary signatures," said Fassina, a former junior economy minister who left Premier Matteo Renzi's Democratic Party (PD) last year. "We've filed an appeal and it will have a positive outcome. We remain on the field". Fassina's list was not the only one to be rejected at the weekend. The right-wing Brothers of Italy (FdI) - led by Giorgio Meloni, one of Fassina's rivals in the Rome race - had its list excluded in Milan.
