German Chancellor Angela Merkel
plugged a proposed trade agreement between the European Union
and the United States at a joint press conference with Premier
Matteo Renzi in Rome on Thursday. "I believe there are
situations in which lawmakers must convince," she said. "I
believe the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership
(TTIP) can create jobs and global value standards. I see very
clear advantages and Italy must also engage itself for something
we believe is right". Recent polls have shown German voters are
doubtful about the TTIP.
