The economy ministry said Thursday it
will save public coffers an estimated 1.5-2 billion euros a year
by rationalizing purchases made by the civil service - which
currently spends 133 billion euros a year on procuring goods and
services.
The announcement came as the economy ministry, its CONSIP
public procurement agency, and ANAC national anti-corruption
authority signed a protocol of understanding to cut down on
procurement costs.
ANAC chief Raffaele Cantone was present at the signing.
