Supreme Council of Magistrates (CSM)
member Aldo Morgigni said Thursday he would ask for action from
the CSM to safeguard prosecutors in Lodi from an attack based on
their relative youth. "These magistrates have been mocked for
age reasons," he said, referring to articles calling them "baby
prosecutors". The prosecutors earlier this week arrested Lodi
mayor Simone Uggetti for alleged bid-rigging on municipal
swimming pools. Ugetti, a member of Premier Matteo Renzi's
Democratic Party (PD) has stepped down from the PD and as mayor.
The PD have defended Uggetti and have called fo swift judicial
action to help clear his name. They have been accused by some of
attacking the judiciary, a claim they deny.
