Protestors clashed with police
in Bologna on Thursday as they demonstrated against a meeting
between Northern League leader Matteo Salvini and the dean of
the city's university, Francesco Ubertini.
At one stage police charged a group of students.
Subsequently when Salvini emerged from the meeting at the
university's engineering faculty, he was greeted by jeers from a
group of students, but there was no violence.
Before leaving the traditionally leftwing city, Salvini
spoke to a woman student who said she was sorry about the
violence, while stressing she was against his ideas and
political methods.
"We are the ones you should be scared of, not those who
throw eggs at the police," she said.
