Under a proposed EU-Turkey
deal, all migrants who entered Greece illegally will be sent
back to Turkey as of March 20. This will be done in line with
international and EU human rights law, and there will be no
collective expulsions. The proposed deal also calls for the
opening of new negotiation chapters for Turkey's EU accession
and for the speedy allocation of three billion euros pledged to
Turkey for the refugees, with Brussels and Ankara deciding
jointly how the money should be spent. Once that money is gone,
spending will begin on a further three billion euros requested
by Turkey.
