Italy is working with its allies to
help the Tobruk parliament back a Libyan national unity
government, Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni said Wednesday. "In
the next few days in a meeting with the ministers of the United
States, Germany, Britain, France and the EU we'll see if there
is an agreement by all on this goal: to enable the majority of
the Tobruk parliament) to express itself for a first step in the
legitimization" of a national-unity government, despite threats
and boycotts from extremists, Gentiloni told the House in a
briefing on Libya. Gentiloni, who recalled Premier Matteo
Renzi's warning that "time is not infinite" to forge the
government, noted that last Wednesday the UN Security Council
discussed the possible ways of overcoming the impasse.
