Rightwing populist Northern League
leader Matteo Salvini said Wednesday, when asked if Italy was at
risk of terror attacks as highlighted by an intelligence-service
report to parliament: "No, Italy is complicit. The Italian
government is complicit in this risk, not only is it not fit to
predict it, but the (Matteo) Renzi government's immigration
policy is complicit in all this". Speaking on Corriere TV Live,
the leader of the anti-immigrant party was asked: "In your view,
can Italian families feel safe?" He replied with a rhetorical
question: "Can anyone feel secure with Premier Renzi and
(Interior) Minister (Angelino) Alfano)?". Salvini has repeatedly
criticised the government for allegedly allowing in too many
migrants and refugees.
