Premier Matteo Renzi will likely
designate current Deputy Justice Minister Enrico Costa from the
New Center Right (NCD) party as the new regional affairs
minister, government sources said Thursday.
Costa might be sworn in as early as Friday, the sources
said.
He would fill a post that had been vacant since former
minister Maria Carmela Lanzetta resigned in January 2015.
The NCD is a junior member of the government coalition
along with Renzi's center-left Democratic Party (PD).
Also on Thursday, cabinet appointed Gennaro Migliore (PD)
and Federica Chiavaroli (NCD) as justice undersecretaries.
NCD MPs Antimo Cesaro and Dorina Bianchi were nominated to
be culture undersecretaries.
Cabinet also made Enzo Amendola (PD) the foreign affairs
undersecretary, replacing Mario Giro (Democrazia Solidale) who
becomes deputy foreign minister.
