(see related)Oscar-winning
director Giuseppe Tornatore said Thursday a government plan to
support Italy's film industry contains "very interesting
proposals".
The package shows "a very strong intention to give Italian
culture - not just cinema - a sprint," he said.
Tornatore was one of four Oscar winners to meet with
Premier Matteo Renzi and Culture Minister Dario Franceschini
ahead of a cabinet meeting set to pass the new measures.
"It's not a plan to relaunch (the sector) because there's
no need for that, but a plan that pays attention to cinema,"
Benigni said.
"We are grateful to Renzi and Franceschini," he said.
