Employers group Confindustria's
model is "as old as the world," CGIL union leader Susanna
Camusso said Thursday, retorting to employers chief Giorgio
Squinzi's description of the union's contract platform as "like
a faded photograph". Camusso said "I am amazed that President
Squinzi should so that of our (model)." She said "I don't say he
should look in the mirror, that's not polite, every once in a
while" as her UIL colleague Carmelo Barbagallo had suggested.
"Carmelo gets carried away," Camusso said, while stressing "the
oldest thing is to affirm the primacy, the domination of
business". CGIL, UIL and the other big union, CISL; are at
loggerheads with Confindustria over a series of contract
renewals.
