The head of Italy's Supreme
Council of Magistrates (CSM), the judiciary's self-governing
body, said he would vote in favor of Constitutional reform in a
referendum. "There have been many attempts to change the
Constitution, all in vain," Giovanni Legnini said. "I believe
foiling this attempt as well would be a problem for the
institutions and democracy". The government's Constitutional
reform bill now before parliament will have to be ratified via a
popular referendum if lawmakers give it final approval.
