Italian Premier Matteo Renzi on
Friday conferred on the international situation by phone with
Russian President Vladimir Putin, sources at the premier's
office said. According to the Kremlin, Putin and Renzi concurred
on the "importance of continuing joint work in implementing
energy projects" of mutual interest. The conversation took place
"upon Italy's initiative" and also touched on other issues of
bilateral cooperation, the Interfax news agency said. The two
leaders also exchanged New Year greetings.
