Footwear giant Nike has joined
forces with Taranto-born fashion designer Riccardo Tisci of
Givenchy to create a collection of shoes and tracksuits that is
to go on sale to coincide with the Rio Olympics this summer.
"My lawyer, she's 55. She's super chic and she wears
classic clothes and Nike on her feet," the 41-year-old creative
director of one of Paris' most exclusive fashion houses told
London's Financial Times.
The partnership with Nike has made him "feel more
complete," Tisci added.
The collection NikeLab x R.T.: Training Redefined will be
in shops between July and August with prices ranging from 44
euros to 230 euros.
"It is the dream of every designer to enter every (fashion)
house," Tisci said in a separate interview with Vogue.
This is not his first collaboration with Nike, however.
Tisci has already worked with the American footwear giant
on special editions of its shoes Dunk and Air Force 1, in both
cases adapting an existing design.
"This is the first time everything is brand new and the
forms are Riccardo Tisci," he said.
"The aim is to introduce a new volume, a new concept within
the sport industry while at the same time respecting the
functionality and performance of Nike," Tisci concluded.
