Two significant exhibitions will
open Friday in Rome and Turin.
A show of rare Medieval and Renaissance manuscripts opens
April 1 through July 22 at the Lincean Academy Library in the
nation's capital.
The exhibition of 180 Arab, Greek, Hebrew and Latin texts
is titled The Books that Made Europe, and seeks to document the
multiple roots of European culture as we know it from Antiquity
to the invention of the printing press.
Further to the north, photography lovers will be treated to
a 30-year retrospective on the work of American Steve McCurry at
the Palace of Venaria near Turin - a former royal palace that is
included on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The exhibition will feature over 250 images spanning
several decades and continents, as well as recent and
unpublished work by the winner of the Robert Capa Gold Medal and
scores of other top awards for his intrepid reporting on
conflict zones around the world.
It will be on view April 1-September 25.
