Police on Tuesday arrested
three Nigerians on charges of abducting a fellow countrywoman
and inducing her into prostitution in Castelvetrano in the
Sicilian province of Trapani.
Juliet Matthew, 27, Precius Matthew, 28, and Daniel
Eguavon, 26, are accused of isolating the woman, who remains
unnamed, and trying to force her to prostitute herself by
threatening her with voodoo rites.
During her imprisonment the woman managed to contact the
International Organisation for Migration which in turn contacted
police in Palermo, who entered the Castelvetrano premises to
liberate her.
