There have been over 22,700
aftershocks since the 6.0-magnitude earthquake that killed 298
people in central Italy on August 24, the National Institute for
Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) said Friday.
As of 10:00 am local time Friday, of those 649 were quakes
of magnitudes between 3 and 4 and 41 were of a magnitude between
4 and 5.
A reported five were magnitude 5 or more.
The INGV also said that in the wake of the October 30
6.5-magnitude earthquake between Perugia and Macerata over 2,700
aftershocks were registered.
The strongest aftershocks since Thursday were a
3.7-magnitude quake in Rieti at 2:30 pm and another in Perugia
of the same magnitude at 9:32 pm.
