The owners of over 1,000
holiday homes in the northern seaside resort of Lignano
Sabbiadoro have dodged tax on summer letting income to the tune
of some six million euros, finance police said Tuesday.
The properties were among approximately 27,000 inspected in
the popular Friuli beach town as part of operation 'Black
House'.
Further checks were conducted on 10 letting agencies and
396 private property owners living in various parts of Italy.
Tax on undeclared letting income amounted to 5,566,000
euros and undeclared VAT to 444,000 euros.
