Rome Mayor Virgina Raggi said
Monday she would discuss the city's bid for the 2024 Olympics
with Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) President Giovanni Malagò
late next month.
"We'll meet in September, after the summer. It's still
August 29, I'd say it's still summer," said Raggi, a member of
the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S), who has in the
past said she would not support the bid because of Rome's ailing
finances.
In Milan, Lombardy Governor Roberto Maroni said the Lombard
capital would be happy to step in if Rome's bid is pulled.
He launched a poll to see how much support the possible bid
would have.
