President Sergio Mattarella and
Senate Speaker Pietro Grasso paid tributes on Monday on the 60th
anniversary of the Bois du Cazier mine disaster in Marcinelle,
Belgium.
The colliery fire claimed the lives of 262 people,
including 136 Italian migrant workers.
Mattarella said the "absurd tragedy" was a "symbol of the
suffering, courage and self-sacrifice of our compatriots who
fought to improve things for themselves and their families".
Grasso attended a ceremony in Marcinelle.
