The two station masters in the
Puglia towns of Andria e Corato, Vito Piccarreta and Alessio
Porcelli, "caused" Tuesday's train crash that killed 23 people,
according to the notices of investigation issued by Trani
prosecutor Simona Merra, one of five prosecutors probing the
incident. The crash happened when one train was waved onto the
single track where the other one was already coming in the
opposite direction. Prosecutors have said there may have been
factors other than human error involved.
