Anti-immigrant Northern League
leader Matteo Salvini on Friday called on the Italian prime
minister to halt immigration or face the consequences.
"Wake up, (Matteo) Renzi," he said. "Stop clandestine
immigration or the Austrians will do it for you."
Speaking at the Italian-Austrian border, Salvini said that
"Austria controls those that enter its territory in a legitimate
manner, and Italy should do the same. Otherwise all the problems
will hit Bolzano, which may end up a tent city" for migrants
stuck there, he said.
