Europol Director Rob Wainwright
told the Italian parliament's Schengen committee on Wednesday
that another major terrorist attack was likely to happen in
Europe. He said the terror threat was "still very high, the most
serious since the time of September 11 and I fear that another
attack in Europe is probable in the future". Wainwright added
that "we don't have any information about specific threats to
Italy". In January a Europol report said there would be more
terror attacks in Europe. "We knew," Wainwright said, "that ISIS
had set up a new command structure in Syria to plan attacks
against European cities and then, unfortunately, Brussels
happened". He said "our priority, therefore, is to identify
other terror networks in activity in Europe". ISIS jihadists
attacked Paris on November 13 killing 130 and Brussels on March
22 killing 32.
