Finance police on Friday
cited five people for failing to declare income on luxury
vacation home rentals to wealthy tourists.
The suspects - two Italians, one American, one British and
one German - allegedly rented bed and breakfasts and holiday
flats in historic homes at 4,000-8,000 euros a week under the
table, thereby evading taxes on over 20 million euros as well as
one million euros in VAT.
Police also seized 2.8 million euros in assets and cash
from the suspects.
