Italian scientists have developed a
nanogel system to deliver insulin to the brain via a nasal spray
in a new therapy for Alzheimer's Disease, according to a study
published in Biomaterials on Monday.
The hormone improves the cognitive ability of Alzheimer's
sufferers, slowing down neurodegeneration.
"So we have created nanogels that are able to incorporate,
protect and vehicle the insulin directly to the brain,"
researcher Marta Di Carlo said.
