Italy's inflation 'trolley' of most frequently bought goods was in sharp deflation in February, 0.4% down on the year.
It was the first price drop since December 2014 and the biggest since July of that year.
Prices of food, excluding alcoholic drinks, were 0.3% down.
In January the overall trolley prices were 0.3% up on the year and food prices 0.4% up..
