Students at Italian scientific
high schools breathed a sigh of relief on Thursday as the
education ministry revealed that maths would be an option on
this year's school-leaving certificate exam, and not physics as
many had feared.
The ministry also announced that Greek would be an option
in this year's state exams at Classics high schools, alternating
from Latin last year.
Education Minister Stefania Giannini used a video on
Facebook to reveal the chosen options for the June 23 written
exams for the certificate, which in Italy is called the
'maturità' exam.
