Police stopped a group of
five women on Wednesday, accused of using online dating sites to
allegedly meet men whom they would subsequently drug and rob.
The 52-year-old leader of the group and a 27-year-old
accomplice were sent to jail, while a third accomplice was
placed on house arrest, a fourth placed on probation, and a
fifth cited and released.
Investigators said the women sought out specific
middle-aged male targets on the dating websites, and during
their dates laced the men's beers with a hypnotic drug in order
to rob them.
Eight men have been confirmed as victims, and police found
contact information for 70 other people that the women had been
in touch with online.
