The body of a man with his
throat slashed was found Tuesday in the Liguria village of
Vesignano.
The victim named as Pierpaolo Pomatto, 64, was found by a
passerby lying in a pool of blood near a canal, surrounded with
a couple of dozen counterfeit 50-euro banknotes.
Ivrea prosecutors are investigating the murder, which may
have taken place at the site where the body was found because
forensics found no drag marks.
The victim had a rap sheet that included extortion, fraud,
and robbery, police said. He was also tried and acquitted of
associating with the Red Brigades leftwing terror group.
