The Constitutional Court on
Tuesday declared admissible a referendum on drilling for oil and
gas in Italy. The referendum will cover the duration of
authorisations to explore as well as already authorised drilling
of fields. The referendum was proposed by nine regional
assemblies. The regions are objecting to drilling platforms
because of the effect they would have on seismic stability and
the environment.
