The Milan stock exchange's
FTSE Mib index dropped 2.4% to 16,413 points at the opening of
trading on Wednesday after Donald Trump won the United States
presidential election.
The spread between Italy's 10-year BTP State bond and the
German equivalent rose to 162 basis points.
It is the highest level since the Brexit referendum in
June.
The yield on the BTP was 1.72%.
