US President Barack
Obama's praise for Italy's reforms in an Italian newspaper
interview Tuesday are "a recognition of the fact that Italy is
continuing on the path of reforms, which are the principal
engine for growth," Economy Minister Pier Carlo Padoan said
Tuesday.
Padoan said Italy had succeeded in putting investments and
an end to austerity at the centre of the EU policy stage.
Obama made his remarks in support of Premier Matteo Renzi's
reforms to La Repubblica daily ahead of a White House dinner
honouring Italy - his last in office - on Tuesday evening.
